Dashboard Confessional è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi nel 1998 a Gainesville, Florida. Il progetto nacque come attività parallela di Chris Carrabba, già frontman della band Further Seems Forever. Il primo album, *Swiss Army Romance* (2000), fu un lavoro principalmente solista, ma con il successo del disco, Carrabba formò una formazione completa per l'album successivo, *The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most* (2001). Il gruppo raggiunse la notorietà internazionale con l'album MTV Unplugged del 2002, certificato platino.
