Primus è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi in San Francisco nel 1984. Noto per il suo sound sperimentale e difficile da classificare, spesso definito thrash funk, funk metal o persino psychedelic polka (termine coniato dal fondatore Les Claypool), Primus ha conquistato una solida base di fan grazie alla sua musica originale e al carisma del frontman.
