Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading (nasciuta il 9 dicembre 1950) è una cantautrice e chitarrista britannica di origini giamaicana. Considerata una delle artiste più influenti del folk rock, ha venduto oltre 20 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo. La sua musica è caratterizzata da melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e un'interpretazione vocale potente. Armatrading ha iniziato la sua carriera negli anni '70 con l'album d'esordio "Whatever's Written" (1972), che ha riscosso un discreto successo. Ha raggiunto la fama internazionale con il suo secondo album, "Joan Armatrading" (1975), contenente il singolo di successo "Love and Affection". Tra i suoi album più importanti ricordiamo anche "Me Myself I" (1978) e "The Key" (1980).
