Protest the Hero è una band canadese di progressive metal/mathcore proveniente da Whitby, Ontario. Formatisi nel 1999, i membri hanno mantenuto la stessa formazione sin dagli inizi. Inizialmente chiamati Happy Go Lucky, hanno cambiato nome prima dell'uscita del loro primo EP, *A Calculated Use of Sound*, seguito dall'album di debutto completo, *Kezia*, pubblicato dall'etichetta indipendente Underground Operations.
