Klaatu è un gruppo rock canadese formatosi nel 1973 da John Woloschuk e Dee Long. Il nome del gruppo deriva dal personaggio extraterrestre interpretato da Michael Rennie nel film *La guerra dei mondi*. Dopo aver pubblicato i singoli "Hanus Of Uranus/Sub-Rosa Subway" e "Dr. Marvello/For You Girl" per l'etichetta GRT Records, Klaatu viene ingaggiato dalla Daffodil Records e dal suo presidente Frank Davies. Il loro album di debutto omonimo, *Klaatu*, pubblicato nel 1976, raggiunge il successo commerciale in Canada e negli Stati Uniti grazie al singolo "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft". Il gruppo continua a pubblicare album fino alla fine degli anni '70, caratterizzati da un sound progressivo con influenze di rock psichedelico e synth-pop. Tra i brani più noti di Klaatu figurano "Anuncia", "The Great Escape" e "A Million Miles Away".
